Not Just Investigating Irregularities; The Fraudulent NEET Itself Must Be Completely Abolished!
As a continuation of the massive youth protest held in Delhi against the irregularities and bungling in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), while protests are spreading across Northern states, the TVK government’s action of suppressing Tamil Nadu's students and youth using the police when they attempt to take to the streets in protest is deeply condemnable. The state government's tendency to suppress the spontaneous protest of the younger generation against NEET, while claiming to oppose the exam itself, is a betrayal of democracy.
Is it fair for Chief Minister Vijay—who brands himself a. "Democrat" (Jananayagan) on screen—to unleash state violence through the police on students and youth on the ground, committing a brutal murder of democracy? Is he a democrat only in movies? While Northern youth stand on the streets of Delhi fighting for their right to education, keeping Tamil Nadu youth lined up outside cinema halls is an unacceptable cruelty. On one hand, claiming to condemn the BJP government's suppression of the youth protest in Delhi, while on the other, attempting to crush the youth protests against NEET in Tamil Nadu—is this not double standards by the TVK government?
Calling the BJP an ideological enemy while secretly serving their interests—is this not indirect service by the TVK government? What a farce!
While protests in Northern states condemn the irregularities in NEET, it is only in Tamil Nadu that protests emphasize that the NEET system itself is a fraud. When a system brought in under the pretext of producing quality doctors—claiming to be better than the previous method—suffers from so many irregularities, confusions, and bunglings, what is the purpose of this examination system? What guarantee is there that irregularities did not occur in this same NEET system in the past?
Therefore, not only investigating the irregularities in NEET, but completely abolishing this fraudulent NEET system altogether is the best opportunity to safeguard the healthcare infrastructure of this country. In a country lacking uniform learning opportunities and facilities, conducting a standardized entrance examination is inherently unequal. Thus, Naam Tamilar Katchi strongly opposes the anti-equality NEET system.
When political parties and movements lead protests against NEET, they are often viewed merely as symbolic demonstrations. However, when students, youth, and the general public take to the streets to protest, it explodes into a democratic revolution, forcing the ruling class to submit and fulfilling their demands. I fully support and welcome the peaceful struggle of the youth gathering working toward this goal.
May the peaceful struggle of the youth in Tamil Nadu triumph!
May the NEET be completely abolished!
