The arrogant speech of Indian Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan that the Rs. 2152 crore fund allocated for the development of Tamil Nadu can be released only if the Tamil Nadu government adopts the new National Education Policy (NEP) is strongly condemned.
How can we accept the new education policy, which is a modernized, regressive education scheme that blends Manusmriti and Varnashrama system, and promotes Hindi imposition and Sanskrit hagemony on non-Hindi-speaking ethnic nationals? How can we accept the new education policy that tries to cover up the history and culture of Tamil Nadu and teach that the history of the North is the history of whole of India?
The BJP government’s monopolistic fascist policies of one law, one election, one exam, one education policy, one religion, one language, and one food, which destroy the sovereignty of linguistic nationalities and lead to the destruction of the country’s integrity, are disastrous maneuver that can divide the country. All such activities that deprive the autonomy of the states are against the Indian Constitution.
Will the Indian Union government, which says that it can provide funds only if the new education policy is implemented in the Tamil Nadu state, say no to the tax money of Tamil Nadu people who have not accepted the New Education Policy? The ministers of the Modi government should first remember that the 2,152 crore rupees owed by the Indian Union Government are the tax money paid by the people of Tamil Nadu, and not philanthropy to Tamil Nadu.
If the DMK government really did not accept the BJP government’s new education policy, why did it implement a part of it, the Homeschooling, in Tamil Nadu? Why did Chief Minister M.K. Stalin write a letter to the Union government saying that he was ready to implement the PM SHRI Scheme? Why did School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi announce that we will implement the good elements of the new education policy? What is the DMK government’s response to the resignation of the state education policy coordinator, Jawahar Nesan, who was appointed by the DMK government, accusing the minister of implementing the national education policy as it is? The result of implementing the BJP government’s new education policy one by one has given the BJP government the courage to force full acceptance. Therefore, now the DMK government’s acting as if it is opposing the new education policy is a political drama staged to deceive the people.
It is shameful that the DMK government, which had promised in the assembly elections that it would abolish the NEET exam if it came to power, could not even get funds. Can’t the DMK and its allies, which have more than 40 members in Parliament, get even the minimum financial rights? Why has the DMK government, which has good relations with senior ministers of the BJP government regarding hosting sporting events in Tamil Nadu, for unveiling statues and releasing coins of Ex CM Karunanidhi, not used it for the welfare and rights of the Tamil Nadu people?
I urge the Tamil Nadu government to immediately convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly and pass a resolution condemning the Indian Union Government for trying to forcefully impose the new education policy, emphasizing that the tax cannot be paid unless the funds are released to Tamil Nadu students welfare, and making it clear that Tamil Nadu will never accept the new education policy.
Therefore, I urge the BJP government to immediately release the Rs 2,152 crore funds unpaid to Tamil Nadu schoolchildren’s welfare, discarding its authoritarian approach that is destroying the unity and making a mockery of the federal principle.
