The Naam Tamizhar Katchi (NTK) condemns the merciless killing of five Muslims by the BJP govt in Uttar Pradesh when they opened fire on a group protesting against the conducting survey at 500-year-old Shahi Jama Masjid that was claimed to be a Hindu temple in the past.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain had filed a petition in the lower civil court alleging that the Jama Masjid in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district had a Harihar temple before it was built in 1529 during the Mughal era. On the same day the petition was filed, the court ordered that the mosque site should be inspected on the same day and ordered the formation of a committee for the purpose. Accordingly, the preliminary inspection was held on the same day as the petition was filed.
On 24-11-2024, when the inspection team came to inspect the mosque in the second phase, the Muslim community living there objected to the inspection. The Uttar Pradesh government resorted to lathicharge and firing on protesting Muslims, in which five Muslims were killed.
In the last 50 years, Hindutva organizations, including the BJP and its communal leadership, have been creating tense situations by dividing the people by claiming that the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram, resulting in the systematic killing of thousands of people in communal riots across the country. The BJP sacrificed thousands of people’s lives in the Babri Masjid issue for the desire for political power. Finally, the communal BJP government did a great injustice to the Muslims through the verdict that the temple should be built with the help of power and courts. After Babri Masjid, the BJP had no room for practicing religious politics, and its influence across the country started declining. The BJP, which has lesser representatives in the Lok Sabha compared to recent elections, suffered a crushing defeat in Ayodhya constituency in UttarPradesh.
Not only that, the Supreme Court recently slammed Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath’s “bulldozer justice”. The tragedy in which 17 children were killed in a fire accident at the Rani Medical College in Jhansi has also become a black mark for the BJP govt. In order to cover all this, the BJP govt has now allowed another mosque to be inspected, creating tension among the people and paving the way for communal riots. The BJP has once again shown its ugly fascist face by mercilessly shooting five Muslims who were protesting against the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid.
The Places of Worship Special Provisions Act, 1991, was enacted by the Indian Union govt to prevent the demolition of any other religious place of worship after Ayodhya. Except in the Babri Masjid land dispute, the Act clearly stipulates that places of worship shall continue to be maintained as they existed prior to 15-08-1947 and that even if the place of worship was encroached upon before 15-08-1947, it cannot be challenged.
Therefore, according to the 1991 Act, no one can take action against a place of worship belonging to a religion or a sect, even if it has been encroached upon by another religion or another sect of the same religion. But even after that, the Hindutva organizations deliberately targeting only Muslim places of worship like
Gyanvapi, Shahi Jama Masjid, Ajmer Dargah, etc., and the communal BJP govt supporting such groups is nothing but a cultural invasion of Muslims.
I warn that if the BJP govt does not give up the fascist tendency of dividing people on the basis of religious fanaticism for political gains, thereby winning elections, and exterminating Muslims with the help of power, it will lead the country towards disaster. I appeal to everyone who believes in democracy, equality, fraternity, unity, integrity, communal harmony, and human rights to come forward to fight against this fascist attitude of the BJP govt.
