It is a matter of shame that the 2024 budget presented by the Modi-led BJP government is only a concession to appease the allies. The BJP government’s lack of concern for the people’s welfare has been repeatedly exposed by the inadequate allocation of funds for significant sectors such as agriculture, education, and health.
It is very painful that the importance given to expensive luxury items like gold, silver, mobile phones, etc. is not given to agriculture, the backbone of the country. The announcement that the government will transform 1 crore farmers from conventional farming to organic farming in 2 years is ridiculous. It is disappointing that the long-standing demand of crores of middle-class people to raise the income tax exemption limit to Rs 5 lakh has not been accepted.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated Rs 26,000 crore for Bihar and Rs 15,000 crore for Andhra Pradesh. Are there only these two states in the Indian Union? Didn’t the people of other states vote for the BJP? Or don’t pay taxes? Is Andhra Pradesh the only state to have backward districts in the country? Not in Thamizh Nadu? Why has the BJP government not announced any special scheme for the development of Thamizh Nadu, which is the highest tax payer in the Indian Union, even once in the last 11 years of budget? The budget of every BJP government is like a continuous vendetta because the people of Thamizh Nadu did not vote for the BJP. The BJP government has left the people of Thamizh Nadu with no option but to launch a ‘No Tax Movement’ to condemn the non-implementation of any development plan considering the people of Thamizh Nadu as second-class citizens.
Overall, the BJP government’s budget for 2024 is a figment of glamorous announcements that could not be implemented in the last 10 years. The BJP’s decline has begun with this budget, which is aimed at retaining the coalition government by completely ignoring Thamizh Nadu and other states.
