MUST WATCH : ‘SRI LANKA’S KILLING FIELDS’ WILL BE BROADCAST ON CHANNEL 4- TUESDAY 14TH JUNE AT 11:05PM

Channel 4 News anchor Jon Snow presents a hard-hitting investigation into the final weeks of the Sri Lankan civil war, featuring devastating new video evidence of horrific war crimes.

“Too gruesome to broadcast” were the words repeatedly stated by Channel 4 over the last couple of years, but now it is time for the truth to be revealed.

The footage, described by the director as ‘raw and disturbing’, depicts the extra-judicial execution of prisoners, the aftermath of targeted shelling of civilian camps, and the horrific scene of dead female LTTE cadres who appear to have been sexually assaulted, abused and murdered.

Jon Snow says the film is “one of the most important” stories he has ever reported saying:  “It tells the story of the bloody end to Sri Lanka’s civil war – in which at least 40,000 Tamil civilians were killed. I have reported civil wars before, not least in Central America in the 1980s but i have never seen such graphic evidence, often at the hands of government soldiers themselves of what have all the hallmarks of war crimes.”

It is widely hoped that the undeniable visual footage of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide will compel the UN to press for an international, independent investigation.

Usually, programmes broadcast on Channel 4 are usually only made available on the 4OD service for UK viewers but given the content of this programme it will be available on www.channel4.com/4od for those outside the UK too. It will be available immediately after it’s broadcast and remain on the website for 7 days.
